In 2009 London-based cousins Anna Singh and Rachael Wood founded Chinti and Parker. With an adoration for innovative knit design the girls aimed to ‘bring a new level of tactility to contemporary womenswear’ by utilising the finest cottons, softest cashmeres and lightest merinos- all of which would be combined with playful implementations of exciting colours and textures. It’s this concept of ‘classic-with a-twist’ that have seen Chinti and Parker gain somewhat of a cult following, with an array of fashionable customers to boot- I’m looking at you Alexa Chung, Olivia Palermo and Gwyneth Paltrow- and most recently ultimate cool girls Cara Delevingne and Margot Robbie at Glastonbury. With Anna and Rachael boasting an inherent understanding of what clothes make women feel good (effortless whilst still remaining luxurious) it’s no wonder that Chinti and Parker is the brand everyone wants a piece of. I sat down (virtually) with one half of the duo, Anna, to find out what makes her tick via a few, fun, speedy questions…
What was the inspo behind the name ‘Chinti and Parker’?
Our Indian great-grandparents’ first names were Chinti and Pakhar, so it’s a variant of that.
Describe your brand in three words
Effortless. Luxury. Cool. Can I call my own brand cool? I think so.
Who would you love to see wearing Chinti and Parker?
Gal Gadot- she’s Wonder Woman!
What are your three holy grail beauty products?
What song would be the soundtrack to your life?
The Best is Yet to Come, by Frank Sinatra.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
A really big slice of a very good cheesecake.
What is your motto?
‘Whether you think you can, or think you can’t-you’re right.’ That’s a Henry Ford quote I think.
And finally- if we only buy one Chinti and Parker piece what should it be and why?
A Chinti and Parker cashmere Breton, of course!
With thanks to Anna, and congratulations to Rachael who has just had her second baby!
