‘I must have flowers, always, and always.’ – Claude Monet
As ever, the spring/summer catwalks have been the embodiment of all things floral (insert Devil Wears Prada quote.) But all is not as it seems. From Erdem and Christopher Kane, to Balenciaga and Marques’Almeida, we’ve seen an array of stand out pieces that have grabbed just about everyone’s attention. Gone are delicate ditsy prints, making way for unabashed boldness- think graphic designs, bright colours and rich embroidery. It’s these traits that have translated to the high-street collections in what can only be described as an attention grabbing bouquet of blooms. Pieces are glorious, stand out, and let’s be honest, happiness inducing. Perhaps then, where monochrome is the epitome of ‘cool,’ bright floral prints are the epitome of ‘happy.’ And hey, that’s something we could all take a little more of. Bring on the blooms.
